Abstract: This 25-minute video, part of the ENDANGERED SPECIES series, gives an introduction to the animals that inhabit the parks and preserves of Botswana and Zimbabwe. The series presents the stories of endangered species throughout the world. This video documents the habitats of southern Africa's wide variety of animals, including hippos, wild dogs, and leopards. Viewers travel by dugout canoe to an island in the Okavango Delta where an undisturbed Africa can still be found. Lions, elephants, and wildebeests are shown as they gather at watering holes. The video describes various factors that influence the habitat of this region's wide variety of animals. These include such human intrusions as predatory tourist operations and transregional highways, as well as climatic and seismic changes. (Author/GAB) |
